Knowing how to have a productive day is significant because it not only helps you achieve your goals but also makes you feel good and proud. However, it is not easy to get things done. Here are three tips that help you have a productive day.
Make a To-Do List
The most important factor that helps you have a productive day is to make a plan or a to-do list. You need to know what you have to do each day, so you can achieve your goals. The better you make your to-do list, the more productive you are. We all want to achieve so many things in our lives, so we likely to put too many tasks in our daily to-do lists, which can make them difficult to achieve. Don’t be greedy. It is difficult to complete 100 big tasks a day. As a result, you tend to discourage yourself when you are unable to complete your to-do lists.
Tips:
- Limit 5-10 tasks per day based on how difficult they are.
- Make your to-do list concise.
- Use highlighters to separate tasks (i.e., red for big tasks – blue for small tasks or green for work – yellow for school, etc.).

Develop Self-Discipline
Self-discipline is the key to have a productive day. If you do not push yourself to do things or get out of your comfort zone, you will never complete and achieve anything. Everyone likes to get things done, but not all of them really make an effort to complete them.
Tips:
- Don’t wait. Just do it, so you can get it done.
- Stop doubting and allowing yourself to delay tasks. You have not done it yet, so how do you know you cannot do it?
- Follow the 5-second rule by Mel Robbins. In summary, if you want to achieve something, you have to physically move within 5 seconds.
- Move forward and forgive yourself if you cannot complete what you want. (It is important to make a good to-do list, so you do not have to stress yourself.)
Allow Yourself to Rest
Your brain can only stay focused for 25-45 minutes. Therefore, taking a break allows it to function better. You may think that you can achieve more if you keep working straight for hours. However, it is not totally true. You will be mentally tired, so you may not think well or have great ideas. If you walk away from your work or study for 5-10 minutes and let your brain rest, you will feel refreshed and think better. You should take a break to help you work or study better, but you must come back to what you were doing, which refers to self-discipline.
Tips:
- Don’t take a long break because it will lose your momentum.
- Set your alarm to remind you to take a break after working or studying for 25-45 minutes.
- Set a timer to lock your devices (computer, tablet, or phone).
